Como explorar Galaxy Tidal Tails 3D Explorer

Open the explorer and watch two galaxies swing past and draw out tidal tails.

  1. Open https://freetoolonline.com/space-3d/tidal-tails.html and wait for the two galaxy disks.
  2. Watch the cores approach; as they pass, the outer stars pull out into tails.
  3. Notice the blue and orange stars - one colour per galaxy - so you can see which tail is whose.
  4. Read the facts panel: Toomre 1972, the Antennae and Mice, and tail lengths.
  5. Pause the encounter, or press Replay to run it again.
