Open the Oviraptor page and take the camera

Open the Oviraptor 3D Viewer and wait for the facts panel to fill. Orbit with the pointer and zoom with the scroll wheel or a two-finger pinch. Fullscreen keeps the controls visible beside the scene. Under the Oviraptor canvas, four controls handle view and scale:

The Oviraptor facts panel lists length about 2 m (published range about 1.6-2 m), height about 0.6 m, weight about 25 kg (published range about 20-40 kg), era 75-71 Mya Late Cretaceous Campanian Djadochta Formation Gobi Desert Mongolia, omnivore/uncertain diet with a toothless beak capable of crushing hard material, named by Henry Fairfield Osborn in 1924 from holotype AMNH 6517 found in 1923 on the Roy Chapman Andrews AMNH Central Asiatic Expeditions. The genus name means egg seizer, but later finds of matching oviraptorid embryos in the same egg type show Oviraptor was very likely brooding its own eggs, not stealing - the name survives for taxonomic priority only. Toothless parrot-like beak; no enlarged sickle foot claw unlike Velociraptor. Soft-tissue color is an artistic reconstruction.
