Front Camera Test

Want to confirm your selfie camera works before a call or photo? Open the camera test and click Start Camera to grant browser permission; a live preview appears with the resolution your device reports. If it opens on the back lens, press Switch to select the front camera and watch yourself appear - your front camera passing the test.

This is a permission, preview, and capture check, not a video recorder. After Start Camera grants access, the live stream runs inside the browser tab and the resolution readout names what the operating system reports for the lens. Use Switch to move between the front and back cameras so you can verify the selfie lens specifically. Flip mirrors the preview, and Filters change only the live view. When the front camera looks right, press Capture to save a single JPEG you can Edit or Download. No frames leave your device.

If the camera does not open, see camera test permission blocked - how to allow it. If a black screen appears instead of the live preview, see camera test shows black screen - four fixes.

Why trust these tools

  • Ten-plus years of web tooling. The freetoolonline editorial team has shipped browser-based utilities since 2015. The goal has never changed: get you to a working output fast, without an install.
  • No install, no sign-up. Open a tool and get a working output in seconds - nothing to download and no account to create. Tools that need heavy processing run it on our service, so even a low-powered machine gets the job done.
  • Analytics stops at the page view. We measure which pages get visited, not what you type or upload inside a tool. There is nothing to sign in to and no profile is attached to your input.
  • Open-source core components. The processing engines underneath (libheif, libde265, pdf-lib, terser, clean-css, ffmpeg.wasm, and others) are public and audit-able. We link to each one in its tool page's footer.
  • Free, with or without ads. All tools are fully functional without sign-up. The Disable Ads button in the header is always available if you need a distraction-free run.
