How to Play Hover Racing - Step by Step

The Hover Racing page loads a ~11 MB anti-gravity time-attack racer in an iframe. Pilot a hover ship down a neon 3D city track, feather the air-brakes, and beat the best lap saved in this browser. Press Play to start.

Keyboard: arrows steer, A/Q and D/E air-brake. Or pick touch or gamepad on the start menu. Needs WebGL. No mouse steering.

Step 1 - press Play on this page

Press Play to inject the iframe (~11 MB: engine, Cityscape track, ship, textures, ogg SFX). The start menu appears over the title art. The engine is HexGL by Thibaut Despoulain (BKcore); LICENSE and credits ship beside the game files.

Step 2 - pick controls, quality, and HUD

On the start menu choose keyboard, on-screen touch, or a standard gamepad. Set quality to low / mid / high / very high to match your hardware. Toggle the HUD (speed + shield) if you want a clean view.

Step 3 - start and drive

Press Start. Accelerate down the straights; hit boost pads for speed. Feather left and right air-brakes (A/Q and D/E on keyboard) through hairpins - the ship drifts wide if you do not. Walls bleed speed; a hard enough hit destroys the ship and ends the run.

Step 4 - finish the lap and beat your ghost

Pass checkpoints and finish the Cityscape lap. Your best time is stored in this browser, along with a ghost replay of that best run so you can race it next time. No accounts or online leaderboards.

Step 5 - credits and replay

See Hover Racing step 5 specs at a glance: download size, WebGL Three.js render, keyboard touch or gamepad input, and the Cityscape track.
Hover Racing step 5: download, WebGL, input, Cityscape track.

Open Credits on the menu for the full HexGL team list. Use replay mode to race your saved ghost. One track and one ship only - there is no track or ship select.

Why trust these tools

  • Ten-plus years of web tooling. The freetoolonline editorial team has shipped browser-based utilities since 2015. The goal has never changed: get you to a working output fast, without an install.
  • No install, no sign-up. Open a tool and get a working output in seconds - nothing to download and no account to create. Tools that need heavy processing run it on our service, so even a low-powered machine gets the job done.
  • Analytics stops at the page view. We measure which pages get visited, not what you type or upload inside a tool. There is nothing to sign in to and no profile is attached to your input.
  • Open-source core components. The processing engines underneath (libheif, libde265, pdf-lib, terser, clean-css, ffmpeg.wasm, and others) are public and audit-able. We link to each one in its tool page's footer.
  • Free, with or without ads. All tools are fully functional without sign-up. The Disable Ads button in the header is always available if you need a distraction-free run.
