How to Play Black Hole Square - Step by Step
The Black Hole Square page loads a ~40 KB tap puzzle in an iframe. Clear every square into the black hole. Press Play to start.
Step 1 - press Play
Press Play to inject the iframe (~40 KB). Swipe left on the title screen to enter the welcome text, then swipe left again for the first puzzle. Upstream is Quinten/black-hole-square (MIT, js13k 2021).
Step 2 - read the board
The black hole sits on the 6x6 grid. Other tiles include blank squares, X squares, arrow squares, and neutron stars. Each puzzle lists a move budget in the top-right.
Step 3 - tap to clear
Tap a marked square. Arrows shove pieces along a line into the hole or empty space. X removes itself. Neutron stars convert into a black hole and pull. Stay within the move count.
Step 4 - swipe between puzzles
Swipe left to skip ahead. Swipe right to reset the current board or go back when you have not made moves. Progress dots under the board open solved levels.
Step 5 - resume later
Current level, solved list, and solutions save under ftol:blackholesquare:storage. Clear site data for that origin if you want a fresh start.

Why trust these tools
- Ten-plus years of web tooling. The freetoolonline editorial team has shipped browser-based utilities since 2015. The goal has never changed: get you to a working output fast, without an install.
- No install, no sign-up. Open a tool and get a working output in seconds - nothing to download and no account to create. Tools that need heavy processing run it on our service, so even a low-powered machine gets the job done.
- Analytics stops at the page view. We measure which pages get visited, not what you type or upload inside a tool. There is nothing to sign in to and no profile is attached to your input.
- Open-source core components. The processing engines underneath (libheif, libde265, pdf-lib, terser, clean-css, ffmpeg.wasm, and others) are public and audit-able. We link to each one in its tool page's footer.
- Free, with or without ads. All tools are fully functional without sign-up. The Disable Ads button in the header is always available if you need a distraction-free run.
