How to Play Unlucky Crossing - Step by Step
The Unlucky Crossing page loads a ~72 KB Halloween street game in an iframe. Cross rows, score near humans, and protect nine happiness lives. Press Play on this page to start.
Step 1 - press Play on this page
Press Play to inject the iframe (~72 KB). Wait for assets to load, then click Start on the in-game menu. Upstream is ilyasmirnov03/unlucky-street (MIT, JS13K 2025).
Step 2 - read the happiness meter
Nine happy icons track lives. Bumping a human removes one life and grants brief invincibility. At zero lives the run ends and your final score appears.
Step 3 - move along the row
Hold Left/Right or A/D to strafe before stepping forward. You cannot walk through tombstone obstacles. Stay inside the screen edges.
Step 4 - advance when safe
Press Up or W (or tap the road on mobile) to move to the next row only when your cat is not blocked by an obstacle on that lane.
Step 5 - score bad-luck points
When you cross, humans you passed recently can award points - closer crosses score higher. Crossing multiple humans in one step applies a multiplier (about 1.25x for two, 2x for three or more).
Step 6 - grab fish crackers
High-scoring crosses sometimes spawn a fish cracker on the next row. Walk over it to regain one happiness life.

Why trust these tools
- Ten-plus years of web tooling. The freetoolonline editorial team has shipped browser-based utilities since 2015. The goal has never changed: get you to a working output fast, without an install.
- No install, no sign-up. Open a tool and get a working output in seconds - nothing to download and no account to create. Tools that need heavy processing run it on our service, so even a low-powered machine gets the job done.
- Analytics stops at the page view. We measure which pages get visited, not what you type or upload inside a tool. There is nothing to sign in to and no profile is attached to your input.
- Open-source core components. The processing engines underneath (libheif, libde265, pdf-lib, terser, clean-css, ffmpeg.wasm, and others) are public and audit-able. We link to each one in its tool page's footer.
- Free, with or without ads. All tools are fully functional without sign-up. The Disable Ads button in the header is always available if you need a distraction-free run.
