How to Play Ritual Catacombs - Step by Step

The Ritual Catacombs page loads a ~94 KB WebGL horror game in an iframe. Collect shards, open doors, and survive the boss. Press Play on this page to start.

Click Play, click inside the frame, then use WASD to move and left click to shoot while gathering green shards.

Step 1 - press Play on this page

Press Play to inject the iframe (~94 KB). The WebGL canvas loads inside the frame. Upstream is dkozhukhar/cat-shooter (MIT, JS13K 2025 Director's Cut).

Step 2 - capture the mouse

Click inside the game frame so pointer lock engages. Move the mouse to look around the catacombs. Press Esc to release the cursor.

Step 3 - move and shoot

WASD walks the dungeon tiles. Hold right mouse to strafe. Left click fires hitscan shots with a short cooldown (~120 ms). Watch the crosshair pulse on each shot.

Step 4 - collect shards and open doors

Pick up green shards scattered in rooms. Runic doors stay sealed until you gather enough shards for that level. Cyan hearts restore HP when shot or collected.

Step 5 - read enemy tells

Black cats charge when their eyes flare red. White wraiths split into orbiting shadows if you stare too long. Stone turret idols shoot magenta orbs - dodge or destroy them.

Step 6 - banish the boss

See Ritual Catacombs step 6 specs at a glance: download size, WASD plus mouse input, no saves, and WebGL2 render.

The boss avatar has nine lives. When its eyes glow, shoot them to remove a life. After victory or defeat, wait 60 seconds then click to restart from the beginning or last checkpoint.

Why trust these tools

  • Ten-plus years of web tooling. The freetoolonline editorial team has shipped browser-based utilities since 2015. The goal has never changed: get you to a working output fast, without an install.
  • No install, no sign-up. Open a tool and get a working output in seconds - nothing to download and no account to create. Tools that need heavy processing run it on our service, so even a low-powered machine gets the job done.
  • Analytics stops at the page view. We measure which pages get visited, not what you type or upload inside a tool. There is nothing to sign in to and no profile is attached to your input.
  • Open-source core components. The processing engines underneath (libheif, libde265, pdf-lib, terser, clean-css, ffmpeg.wasm, and others) are public and audit-able. We link to each one in its tool page's footer.
  • Free, with or without ads. All tools are fully functional without sign-up. The Disable Ads button in the header is always available if you need a distraction-free run.
