How to View Seismosaurus in 3D


Seismosaurus 3D Viewer runs a Late Jurassic Morrison diplodocid popularly called Seismosaurus - revised length about 33 m (Size vs human uses 33 m), mass about 21-23 tonnes - often treated as Diplodocus hallorum. Drag to rotate, zoom, toggle a 1.8 m person, and click a body part.


Open the Seismosaurus page and take the camera

Open the Seismosaurus 3D Viewer and wait for the facts panel to fill. When the status line says you can drag, orbit Seismosaurus with the pointer and zoom with the scroll wheel or a two-finger pinch. Fullscreen expands the wrapper so the controls stay visible beside the scene. After first paint a license-clean CC-BY-SA 4.0 glTF may swap in automatically from the CDN; if that load fails the page stays on the procedural long-necked sauropod silhouette with zero regression.

The Seismosaurus facts panel lists revised length about 33 m (Gillette-era 39-52 m estimates rejected after caudal reappraisal; Lucas et al. / GSA 2004; Size vs human uses 33 m), standing height about 6-8 m at the hips, mass about 21-23 tonnes (not the old popular 100-tonne figures), the Late Jurassic window about 155-145 million years ago in the Morrison Formation (New Mexico type), herbivore diet, naming from Gillette 1991, and junior-synonym status under Diplodocus / often D. hallorum. A short click - not a drag - on head, neck, or body surfaces a short fossil fact. Soft-tissue color is an artistic reconstruction. When the CC-BY-SA 4.0 glTF by seth the yutyrannus via Printables loads, the status text notes a real model with that credit - a stylized reconstruction, not a laser scan.
