How to View Torvosaurus in 3D
Torvosaurus 3D Viewer runs a Late Jurassic megalosaurid stockier than Allosaurus in your browser. Drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom, toggle a 1.8 m person for scale, and click a body region for a fossil-sourced fact.
Open the Torvosaurus page and take the camera
Open the Torvosaurus 3D Viewer and wait for the facts panel to fill. Orbit with the pointer and zoom with the scroll wheel or a two-finger pinch. Fullscreen keeps the controls visible beside the scene. After first paint a license-clean glTF may swap in from the CDN; if that load fails the page stays on the procedural silhouette.
Use the four Torvosaurus controls under the canvas
Under the Torvosaurus canvas, four controls handle view and scale:
- Fullscreen - fills the display while keeping the buttons visible
- Stop rotation / Auto-rotate - freezes or resumes auto-spin
- Idle motion - adds subtle body sway; tap again for Stand still
- Size vs human - shows a 1.8 m person at the honest panel length ratio (10 m)
Read the Torvosaurus facts panel and click a body part
The Torvosaurus facts panel lists about 9-11 m (panel baseline 10 m), about 3.5 m at the hip (panel baseline), about 2-4.5 t (panel baseline 3 t), about 152-148 Mya Late Jurassic (Kimmeridgian-Tithonian); Morrison Formation USA and Lourinha Formation Portugal, carnivore, and naming (Galton and Jensen 1979 Morrison Formation USA; T. gurneyi from Lourinha Formation Portugal). Teeth crowns up to about 10 cm. Stockier than the lighter-built Allosaurus it shared the Morrison with. Do not conflate with Allosaurus or Megalosaurus. A short click - not a drag - on a body region surfaces a short fossil fact. Soft-tissue color is an artistic reconstruction. When the sourced glTF loads, the status text notes a real model with credit - CC-BY-SA 4.0 glTF (seth the yutyrannus via Printables 774270) is stylized, not a laser scan. This model is not a fossil-accurate skeleton.
