Pick a lens mass
Press "Sun-like star", "Jupiter-mass planet", or "Earth-mass planet" to switch the lens mass. The facts panel updates with the real published event duration for that mass class - weeks for a star, hours for a Jupiter-mass planet, and just 41.5 minutes for the real record-holder, OGLE-2016-BLG-1928.
Play or scrub the event
Press "Play event" to watch one full brightening pass, or drag the event-progress slider to hold any moment. The light-curve canvas below the scene traces the exact brightness shape at that moment, with a red marker showing your current position.
Reveal the invisible lens
Press "Show inferred path" to add a dark marker and a faint dashed line showing where the rogue planet is passing. This is a teaching aid only - by default nothing marks the lens, matching what a real telescope actually sees.
Compare the two population estimates
Press "Showing: 2011 estimate" to flip the facts panel to the 2017 revision and back. The two numbers are both real, published results - not one settled figure.
