Flashcards (spaced Repetition) Step By Step

Flashcards (Spaced Repetition) runs in three steps: open the tool, add your cards, then study them. This page walks through what each step expects.

Step 1 - open the tool

Go to Flashcards (Spaced Repetition). Nothing needs to be installed or signed in before you start.

Step 2 - add your cards

Type the question into "Front (question)", type the answer into "Back (answer)", then click "Add card" (or press Enter in either field). Repeat for every card you want in the deck.

Step 3 - study the deck

The Study widget shows one card's front at a time. Click "Show answer" to flip it, then mark it "I knew it" to set it aside for this pass, or "Still learning" to keep it in the queue; Shuffle randomizes the study order.

Cards are saved in this browser via local storage, so they survive a page reload; export a backup (JSON) before clearing browser data or switching devices, since neither is synced automatically.

This is a simple study aid, not a spaced-repetition scheduler - there is no algorithm timing when a card comes back; "Study all again" just clears every card's known flag so the full deck re-enters the queue.

Why trust these tools

  • Ten-plus years of web tooling. The freetoolonline editorial team has shipped browser-based utilities since 2015. The goal has never changed: get you to a working output fast, without an install.
  • No install, no sign-up. Open a tool and get a working output in seconds - nothing to download and no account to create. Tools that need heavy processing run it on our service, so even a low-powered machine gets the job done.
  • Analytics stops at the page view. We measure which pages get visited, not what you type or upload inside a tool. There is nothing to sign in to and no profile is attached to your input.
  • Open-source core components. The processing engines underneath (libheif, libde265, pdf-lib, terser, clean-css, ffmpeg.wasm, and others) are public and audit-able. We link to each one in its tool page's footer.
  • Free, with or without ads. All tools are fully functional without sign-up. The Disable Ads button in the header is always available if you need a distraction-free run.
