Step 1 - open the page
Go to Sales Tax Calculator. The tool loads in the browser - nothing to install and no account required.
Step 2 - enter the pre-tax price
Type the item price before tax in the first field. The default is $100.00; replace it with your actual price. Cents are supported - for example, enter 24.99 for a $24.99 item.
Step 3 - enter the tax rate
Type your local sales tax percentage in the second field. Common rates range from 0% (some states exempt food) to 10.25% (Chicago, IL). The default is 8.25%; change it to match your state or city rate.
Step 4 - read the result
The output updates on every keystroke. You see three lines: the tax amount in dollars, the total price (pre-tax + tax), and the rate summary. There is no Calculate button to press.
