How to Use the Transit-Timing Variation (TTV) 3D Explorer - Step by Step
Open the Transit-Timing Variation (TTV) 3D Explorer, pick one of the three real Kepler systems, scrub through forty transits with the slider or "Play transits", and press "Reveal hidden planet" to see the second world the timing wobble points to.
Pick a real system
Press "Kepler-19b + 19c", "Kepler-9b + 9c", or "Kepler-36b + 36c" to load that system's real orbital periods and published TTV facts into the scene and the facts panel.
Scrub or play through transits
Drag the "Scrub transits" slider to jump straight to any of the forty transits, or press "Play transits" to step through them automatically - watch the bright marker on the inner orbit ring drift above (early) or below (late) the gray "expected" ring as the strip graph below traces the same offset.
Read the strip graph
The strip graph plots the timing offset for every transit up to the one you are on; the current transit gets a larger dot, and the panel states whether that transit ran early, late, or on time.
Reveal the hidden planet
Press "Reveal hidden planet" to show the second planet and its orbit ring - the world the timing wobble is pointing to but that the transiting planet alone never reveals.
Drag to orbit and use fullscreen
Drag to orbit the camera, scroll or pinch to zoom, and use the Fullscreen button to expand the whole wrapper for a clearer view.
