After the first AI run the browser reuses the cached detector, so the 1.3 MB is a once-per-browser cost, not a per-photo one.
What the detector will and will not catch
The detector works above a 70 percent confidence bar, so clear, front-facing faces are found reliably, while small, turned-away, or partly covered faces can slip past it. The tool is honest about that boundary: the same brush that handles plates and tattoos is the designed cover for missed faces, not an automatic guarantee. It detects faces only - other identifying marks are always manual-brush work.
What blurring does not promise
Blurring is not a certified anonymization guarantee. Heavy pixelation resists casual recognition, but no blur tool can promise a person is unidentifiable from context - clothing, location, or whatever else you share alongside the photo.
